The Subway and Tubes.
The Subways of New York relieve much of the congestion formerly traveling
over the Brooklyn Bridge. The tubes are constructed through the heart of
the business district, cutting under large buildings. They are four tracks
wide affording a local and express service. The Hudson Tubes, operated
from 34th and Broadway under the Hudson river to Jersey points, reach as
far as Newark.
