" 1963 - For more than three-and-a-half hours in frigid, minus 20 degree weather, firemen from Clay, Cicero, Moyers Corners and Brewerton vainly battled a blaze at Maurice Gates’ Ver Plank Road farm. The barn burned to the ground killing a horse, a pony, a pig and the family dog."
